1800mm Deck Decompression Chambers DDC

Over the last few years we have seen the increase in popularity of larger diameter Deck Decompression Chambers (DDC’s). Initially any enquiries for chambers larger than 1500mm (60 inches) would have exclusively come from the Scandinavian region but now we are finding that diving contractors from all over the globe are showing interest in our 1800mm (72 inches) chamber. IMCA have recently revised their D023 guidelines:

” Any chamber manufactured after 1 January 2015 should have a minimum internal diameter of 60 inches if using imperial measurements or 1500mm if using metric measurements. Chambers manufactured before this date do not need to meet this size requirement. “

But for some people bigger is better.
Diver Decompression Chambers

Due to the increase in demand we at SMP now stock 1800mm DDC shells at our Preston workshop ready to fit out. This greatly reduces project build times for our customers. We supply the chambers as free-standing units but more commonly as containerised systems ready to deploy anywhere in the world. We have standard designs like the example shown below which fit into 20 foot ISO containers to keep mobilisation and shipping costs to a minimum. We also produce bespoke systems and our sales and design teams are on hand to consult with clients to produce high quality solutions, supplying computer generated realistic views of the systems prior to build.

Diver Decompression Chambers

Our DDC shells are built in the UK to the design code PD5500 : 2009 CAT1 and are certified by Lloyds Register of Shipping and they have a depth rating of 100 Metres.

All of our diving systems are designed to meet and exceed IMCA safety standards for offshore use.

Commercial Diving Transfer Under Pressure (TUP) System

SMP’s well established manufacturing and design teams have recognised the requirement of the next step to extended bottom times with air, nitrox and mixed gas diving with the ever increasing demands in the renewable, oil and gas sectors in the offshore industry.

SMP have developed a solution for a closed Bell TUP System which will be a unique one-off design available to interested parties. This system is configurable to client requirements on a short lead time.

Transfer Under Pressure System

The system provides a cost effective diving solution through increased bottom times for the diving teams. This provides the capability for the diving team to be working from a Schedule 6 type Bell whilst the second team will be in decompression after completing their bell diving operations.

This will mean continual productivity from the diving bell teams with less down time and smaller diving crews that would be utilised with normal air and nitrox diving.

Transfer Under Pressure System

The system utilises a minimum 4.5 m3 saturation diving bell which has the capability of bounce diving operations. This is critical to the utilisation of this system. The diving bell can be lowered to the seabed under atmospheric conditions. When the divers arrive at the work site the supervisors will have the capability to pressurise the diving bell equivalent to the work site depth which will allow the divers to exit the bell to proceed with their tasks. This can be a single diver or two diver lock out with a standby diver remaining in the bell.

Transfer Under Pressure System

On completion of the dive the divers will return to the diving bell where the doors will be sealed. At this stage the divers in the bell will start their decompression procedure. The bell will then be recovered to the surface with the divers continuing their decompression within this controlled atmosphere. The bell will be recovered by the handling system into the bell capture arrangement thereafter manipulated onto the bell handling trolley for mating to the divers transfer lock.

The above process allows for much greater productivity with diver’s bottom times, a more controlled and safer working environment and quicker and safer decompression procedures as opposed to the regularly used oxygen surface decompression procedure.

SMP Supply High Demand From Commercial Diving Contractors

In recent months, we have noticed a considerable increase in worldwide demand from commercial diving contractors for commercial diving equipment.

In particular we have been quoting a lot of commercial diving air systems for commercial diving contractors who require large diving equipment as a result of winning offshore diving contracts.  For example we recently received an order from Africa for a complete diving system including containerised hyperbaric chamber and air diving control panel, machinery container with HP and LP breathing air compressors and HP gas storage, hydraulic diver launch and recovery systems, Kirby Morgan diving helmets and Bandmasks.

As a member of both IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association) and ADC (Association of Diving Contractors), we are well known to commercial divers and commercial diving contractors wthin the UK, Europe and throughtout the world.  In the last 12 months we have fielded enquries from over 100 different countries throughout the world.

Our Facebook page contains over 4,000 commercial divers and commercial diving contractors throughout the world.  To view our Facebook page visit: SMP Facebook Page

SMP Underwater Cutting Rods

SMP Underwater Pro-Thermic Cutting Rods

SMP Underwater Pro-Thermic Cutting Rods

We cuurrently have around 175 boxes of underwater cutting rods in stock available for next day delivery subject to availability.  Our cutting rods offer exceptional performance and value for money when compared with other cutting rods on the market.  Our competitors offer cutting rods in quantities of 66 rods per box at a similar price to our rods which come in quantities of 100 rods per box.  Therefore our rods offer around 33% more rods which is a significant cost saving, especially when buying multiple quantities.

For information visit: SMP underwater cutting rods

In addition to cutting rods, we also sell cutting torches, namely the Broco BR-22 Cutting Torch.
