VIETNAM NAVY: Design and build of Multi-role Containerised (TUP) Recompression Facility inc Life Support Machinery Containers, Life Support Control Equipment, 2 x Multi Personnel Twin Compartment Surface Decompression Chambers and associated equipment.
SMP were awarded a Contract as the main contractor to build the new Multi-role Containerised TUP Recompression Facility for submarine rescue. This included the initial concept design, manufacture and installation of 2 x multi compartment containerised recompression chambers complete with remote control panels in two fully air conditioned and insulated life support control containers. The chambers were fitted with two NATO bayonet STANAG 1079 flanges. Additionally life support machinery containers including high pressure/low pressure compressors, chilled water plant for habitat cooling and domestic hot and cold potable water pumps. An electrical distribution with primary and secondary supplies and a number of high pressure secondary gas quads were provided for HP air backup and therapeutic gases both oxygen and heliox.
