20ft Containerised Decompression Chamber heading overseas

20ft Containerised Decompression Chamber heading overseas
A 20ft containerised decompression chamber has been completed in the workshop. The system is going to be used by our client based in the Middle East.

The 20ft DNV container is housing a 1.5m diving decompression chamber (DDC). The chamber has been designed with an entry lock as well as a medical lock. This makes the transfer of people as well as items easier whilst the chamber is in use. The DDC is able to seat 4 people at a time, or 2 people lying down. The chamber’s high pressure cylinder banks are mounted on the skid along the bottom of the chamber.

Diving personnel can enter the chamber from the outside of the container for ease of access. All of the chamber’s controls are housed within the container, creating a safe working environment for the chamber operators to monitor the system. The DDC has been fitted with a 2 channel chamber radio so that operators can communicate with the personnel inside the pressurised environment.

Supporting the chamber is a high pressure, breathing air compressor. The compressor is capable of filling at 550 l/min using a three-phase motor. With the compressor having a vertical arrangement, it makes it perfect for placing into tight spaces such as a machinery container.

The client will be using this 20ft containerised decompression chamber to support their subsea maintenance and servicing operations. They predominantly operate in the oil and gas industry, with their global brand being present in Europe, Africa and Asia.

SMP have been manufacturing DDCs since 1985 and have built a reputation for the high level of quality and outstanding performance of our systems.
