Two Dual Basket LARS complete final testing in SMP Workshop
This week, two new Dual Basket LARS have been load tested to make sure they operate as intended and can safely lift and carry various load weights. With the tests now out of the way, the two LARS have been completed and are ready to be shipped to the clients.

These two LARS are going to be used by a Western Navy for various diving operations.  SMP’s Launch and Recovery Systems (LARS) are designed to get divers and their equipment into and out of the water quickly and safely.

SMP Dual Basket LARS has been specifically designed to give a compact operating footprint to minimise the deck space required on board a vessel or barge. The LARS can fold down to allow it to fit into a standard ISO shipping container, reducing shipping costs. This also allows for safe storage and protection of the LARS from the elements during periods when the equipment is not required operationally.

SMP’s LARS are IMCA D023 and D018 compliant and have design approval to Lloyds’ rules for lifting appliances in a marine environment. SMP’s systems can also be constructed under survey to stipulated standards, rules, and regulations.

SMP’s experienced engineers have delivered many LARS based on the requirements of each individual client. Whilst each project has bespoke requirements, all their systems share the same level of high quality, reliability, and ease of use. SMP’s launch and recovery customers include commercial diving companies, militaries, and organisations involved in scientific research.

With over 35 years’ experience in the field, SMP is a world leader in the design, supply and manufacture of commercial diving equipment, subsea equipment, and hyperbaric chambers. Their values are rooted in developing home-grown talent and harnessing the expertise that only years of industry experience bring.
