Wrist-mounted Underwater Thickness Gauge at SMP
The Cygnus DIVE MK 2 is a wrist-mounted underwater ultrasonic thickness gauge with a robust and easy to use design.

The system uses a multiple echo technique to ensure that protective coatings up to 20mm thick are ignored, giving a more accurate reading for the thickness measurement of metal. The readings are displayed on a bright 2.8” AMOLED monitor and is easily viewable by both the diver and their camera.

With Multiple Echo, readings are taken by measuring the time delay between any three consecutive backwall echoes. All measurements are error checked using 3 return echoes to give repeatable, reliable results.

The wrist-mounted underwater thickness gauge has been built to be easy to operate through the use of two buttons to navigate the system’s menu. Also, with the gauge being mounted on the wrist, it can be used with a single hand.

The DIVE MK2 has a new feature for measuring thickness, Single Echo mode, where Twin Crystal probes can be used. This feature is useful for specific situations such as measuring uncoated surfaces which have a lot of front face and back wall corrosion.

The device has been fitted with a single 3.6V Li-ion 8.2 W battery which will keep the device running for 11 hours of continuous use. The system is supplied with two of these rechargeable batteries as standard.
