Description
The DX300 is designed to use the same durable housing as the well-known AQUAPULSE (AQ1B) range of metal detectors. The system includes a rugged DX300 electronic module, an RX200 detection probe (80 cm / 32" in length), a slim Bonephone (or optional underwater headphones), and a universal mains charger. All connections to the control unit are made using the same reliable underwater Ikelite connectors as the AQ1B range.
The mains charger, Bonephone, and headphones are identical to those used with the AQ1B family, allowing existing AQ1B users to interchange these components seamlessly. The system is powered by an internal NiMH battery pack, providing a minimum of 12 hours of operation on a full charge. The battery can be recharged at any time without suffering from “memory” effects.
The RX200 probe features a pair of highly sensitive Fluxgate magnetic sensors spaced 600 mm (approximately 2 ft) apart, enclosed in a sturdy GRP housing with an integrated pre-conditioning combiner circuit. A two-meter polyurethane-sheathed cable connects the probe to the control unit via an Ikelite connector. Users can select from four sensitivity modes, enabling progressive desensitization when investigating a target.
The system’s audible output can be preset to silent or low-frequency mode, where even slight pitch changes indicate the presence of metallic objects. This proportional audio response allows precise pinpointing of objects, as well as tracking of items such as pipes or cables. The nature of the signal can also help determine the orientation of buried objects like anchors or cannons.
For added versatility, the RX200 probe is available with extended cable lengths of up to 100 m, making it suitable for surface-based applications such as towed, drop-down, or drift detection operations.
