Description

The Launch and Recovery System (LARS), available for hire, is a robust diver deployment solution designed with safety, reliability, and flexibility in mind. The system includes an adjustable A-frame, two hydraulically-controlled man-riding winches, a diving cage, a control box, and a clump weight, all providing an efficient and compact way to deploy and retrieve divers. Certified by Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, the LARS adheres to Lloyd’s Rules for Lifting Appliances, ensuring it meets rigorous operational standards. Each system comes with a comprehensive certification data pack for assured safety and compliance.

The two-man dive basket within the system has a Safe Working Load (SWL) of 400kg and operates at depths of up to 50m. Built from durable stainless steel with non-slip grating and handholds, it includes emergency recovery features and diver access gates for ease of entry and exit. The basket’s design incorporates a maximum capacity of 1000kg, with ample space for tools and necessary equipment. For enhanced safety during operations, the system includes a spotlight on the A-frame and an over-travel safety mechanism to prevent accidental basket overload.

The clump weight has an SWL of 1000kg, acting as both a stabilizing and emergency retrieval component. In case of mechanical failure, it serves as a backup means for basket recovery. The A-frame includes a main central sheave wheel for controlled lifting and lowering, while an 8” snatch block routes the clump weight wire along the crossbeam, optimizing stability during deployment.

Constructed for durability, the system’s base skid is made from channel section steel, coated with offshore-grade paint for corrosion resistance, and topped with a non-slip grating for added safety. Removable steel safety gates aid in transport, making the system easy to move and set up. Hydraulic man-riding winches powered by efficient gear motors provide smooth operation, with brake valves, internal safety brakes, and overrun clutches for precision control. Stainless steel piping and non-rotational, crush-resistant wires help prevent wear and ensure the winches maintain safe and reliable performance, with line speeds up to 20m/min.

Overall, this heavy-duty LARS package combines strength, safety, and efficient operation for challenging underwater environments, all while remaining easy to transport, install, and store.
