The SMP 2 Diver Radio Set is a surface terminal for a communication system designed for the use between a surface tender and one two or both divers. Facilities are provided to connect the system for (ROUND ROBIN) four wire open channel operation.
In normal two-wire operation of the system control is entirely from the SMP 2 Diver Radio Set which is biased to normally receive messages from the divers. Only when the surface operator transmits is the receiver speaker inoperative for reception if however the system is connected for four wire operation with the surface operator wearing a headset and microphone then twoway communication is possible on an open channel.
The SMP 2 Diver Radio Set system in its standard form is a battery powered unit powered from internal battery. Provision is made for an external 12 volt DC source or from a mains power supply. Facilities for connecting a monitor tape recorder headset and microphone are provided. The SMP 2 Diver Radio Set is housed in a robust plastic case that has been designed to operate in hostile environments and stand the normal abuse it will receive in the diving industry.
